Katherine “Katie” Welch

Katherine “Katie” Welch joined Schwartz & Schwartz in 2025, bringing with her a broad range of professional experience. She focuses her practice on personal injury, wills and trusts, estate planning, and liquor licensing. She is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Delaware and has handled a diverse variety of matters, including general litigation, bankruptcy, and corporate law.
Katie earned her law degree with honors from Widener University Delaware Law School. During her time there, she served as a judicial extern to Justice James T. Vaughn of the Delaware Supreme Court and was recognized with several leadership roles. Katie was Vice President and Interscholastic Chair of the Moot Court Honor Society, a student representative on the inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, and a staff editor for the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. Katie was additionally honored during law school with the Zelda K. Herrmann Memorial Scholarship.
Before entering the legal profession, Katie worked as a psychiatric social worker and was a member of the Mental Health Court interdisciplinary team in New Castle County.
As a Dover native who has lived in both Kent and New Castle counties, Katie maintains strong ties to the Delaware community. Her background and commitment to client service make her a well-rounded and trusted advocate for Delawareans in need of legal representation.
